After leaving the Kunstgewerbeschule in Zurich he worked with Josef Müller-Brockmann in Switzerland and then with Paul Rand in the USA. As a designer he was part of the Nakamoto International Agency in Japan from 1964–1965 before returning to Zurich as partner and co-owner of the design and advertising agency Müller-Brockmann & Co.
