William P. Welsh (born in 1889) was a highly decorated artist of the early twentieth century. His paintings include portraits of numerous citizens of Chicago, murals for the Chicago Room and Palmer House, 1925-26, illustrations for stories for Hearst's International, Woman's Home Companion, magazine covers for Woman's Home Companion, mural decoration Lexington St. Scene, Kentuckian Hotel, 1947, portraits of many notables, from 1948; one man exhibition Speed Art Museum, Louisville, 1956; designed posters for Pullman Co., University of Chicago, Lincoln National Life Insurance Co., and others.
