6.25 x 9.25 hardcover book with 388 pages and 32 b/w plates. A very influential volume: guide designed for the young person considering entering the field of industrial design. One of the standard works that helped define industrial design.

The illustrations show successful product designs, many of them generated by the author's firm, Van Doren & Associates.

A popular work on the newly defined profession of industrial design, with chapters on the fundamentals of design, technique, and practice, with case histories, glossary, bibliography, and index. Although known less than some of his contemporaries, Van Doren was an extraordinarily influential figure in design in the decades before and after the war.
