10.25 x 13.25 scarce hardcover book with 176 pages and 103 color plates and 80 color and b/w text illustrations. D. H. Chiparus was Romanian, but traveled to Paris before World War I to pursue his art. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts and exhibited at the Salon in 1914. He was particularly adept in chryselephantine, combining bronze and ivory to produce dramatic Art Deco sculpture. His most renowned works date from 1914-1933.
