PLASTIQUE [Number 1-5, 1937-1939]
Sophie H. Taeuber-Arp [Editor]
Sophie H. Taeuber-Arp [Editor]: PLASTIQUE [Number 1-5, 1937-1939, with a Cumulative Index prepared for this Edition]. New York: Arno Press, 1969. First edition thus. Octavo. Green cloth stamped in green. Unpaginated. Black and white plates. Index. Non-parallel texts in English, French and German. Reprint edition of Taeuber-Arp's PLASTIQUE [Paris: S. H. Arp, 1937-1939]. A fine copy.
6.25 x 9.5 hardcover book with 67 black and white plates, reprinting Sophie H. Taeuber-Arp's avant-garde art journal PLASTIQUE "devoted to the study and appreciation of Abstract Art; its editors are themselves painters and sculptors identified with the modern movement in Europe and America." Sophie H. Taeuber-Arp served as editor, with regular collaborations from Hans Arp, Cesar Domela, A. E. Gallatin, L. K. Morris and other. An exceptional snapshot of the international Constructivist and Abstract Art movements that flourished before the start of World War II. My highest recommendation.
