DECORATIVE ART IN MODERN INTERIORS 1969/70 Ella Moody (editor)
Ella Moody (editor): DECORATIVE ART IN MODERN INTERIORS 1969/70. NYC: The Viking Press (A Studio Book), 1969. First edition. A fine hardcover book bound in full cloth with a fine dustjacket: an immaculate copy. Interior unmarked and very clean. out-of-print.
8.75 x 11.25 hardcover book with 166 pages of Interiors, houses, Furniture, Prints, weaves, Table ware, Light fittings, Glass, Ceramics, circa 1969. This book was printed in the Netherlands and the color reproduction is truly stunning. The engraving and plates were dead-on perfect for this edition, and all the photographs are printed on quality glossy paper. My highest recommendation.
Every object presented in this edition is identified by its designers and manufacturer/distributor. Dimensions and materials are also noted. The presence of this information makes this an invaluable reference for collectors of modern decorative arts. You have been warned.
This book showcases the Interior Design transition that occurred as people migrated from 1950s organic austerity into the enlightened (and very colorful) 1960s. This volume would be an invaluable resource for anybody attempting to restore a contemporary residential environment.
This volume is also a valuable midcentury resource since it goes through the trouble of identifying both designers and manufacturers of furniture, fabrics, wall coverings, tiles, lamps and accessories. You know what I'm talking about.
From the book: "Decorative Art, now in its 59th year and better than ever, presents in this issue a lively selection of the best and newest designs for the home."
"An emphasis on developments in the United States, Scandinavia, Great Britain, Germany and Japan highlights this remarkable collection from the best works of leading architects, designers, and decorators all over the world. In addition to the many dramatic new ideas for houses and interiors, there are exciting designs for glassware, porcelain and metal tableware, ceramics, textiles, and plastics, and refreshing furniture styles based on completely modern technical resources. "
