A very good to near-fine softcover book in decorated, stiff wrappers: uncoated wrappers show light soiling and a small chip to the spine crown. A superior copy of this fragile, early volume. Former owner bookplate on FEP. Cover design and typography by Paul Rand. 7.5 x 10 book, with 64 pages and many b/w photos and 2 color plates; illustrations include full page photo of Mondrian at work in 1943. From the series, "The Documents of Modern Art", edited by Robert Motherwell. In an early issue of GRAPHIS, Max Bill reviewed Motherwell's Documents of Modern Art series by stating it was the most important series of modern art documents since Gropius and Moholy-Nagy published the Bauhuasbuchers.
