From the Book: "If only the best is good enough for your home you will have been awaiting this issue of Decorative Art for the last six years. Since 1942 its production had been suspended, due to war exigencies, but before then, and as far back as 1906, its annual appearance was a cardinal event for those whose pride lay in the architecture, furnishing and equipment of their homes.

Now, as then, the current edition reviews the latest and most outstanding contemporary achievements in domestic design. But times have changed since 1942. There have been many alterations to our social structure, and our mode of life, as it is today, has caused a recasting of ideas by designers who look after our home needs.

Although the period under review cannot be dealt with comprehensively, it has been possible to represent in this volume a carefully refined selection of the best articles of manufacture to be found anywhere. Over four hundred illustrations are preceded by R. W. Symond's introduction."
