GRAPHIK: WERBUNG + FORMGEBUNG
ADVERTISING AND INDUSTRIAL DESIGN
July 1954

Dr. A. Wannamacher (editor): GRAPHIK: WERBUNG + FORMGEBUNG [ADVERTISING AND INDUSTRIAL DESIGN]. A Review of Advertising for Commerce and Industry. Stuttgart: Verlag Maiwald, July 1954 . Text in German, with English article summaries and cutlines. A very good original magazine: wear to spine and cover scuffs. Interior unmarked and very clean. Scarce.

8.25 x 11.75 perfect-bound magazine with 60 pages of editiorial and advertising content spotlighting the German Advertising and Industrial Design industries, circa 1954. An excellent snapshot of the postwar recovery and development of the German Design Aesthetic. First-class design and production (as to be expected for an industry magazine) with spot-color and tipped-in samples throughout.

This magazine celebrates all the best of modern German industrial design. Includes many examples of objects designed for the burgeoning postwar middle class.

Original 1954 magazine with strong editorial content:

  • REPRESENTATION AND PUBLICITY IN TOURIST TRAFFIC WORK by Dr. Hans Ludwig Zonkl: Nizzoli, Jean Colin, etc.
  • GRAPHIC AND PHOTOGRAPHIC REPRESENTATION IN THE TOURIST TRAFFIC POSTER by Franz Hermann Wills
  • THE GOOD DESIGN SHOW IN BASLE by Dr. Heinrich Konig: MoMA's Good Design show travels to Europe: 3 pages and 6 b/w images.
  • THE BEST GERMAN POSTERS OF 1953 by Dr. A. Wannamacher
