8.5 x 11 softcover book with 172 pages and 171 b/w plates of Documentary photographs from the 1930s New Deal Era sponsored by Roy Stryker's Farm Security Administration (FSA), the United States Department of Agriculture, the Civilian Conservation Corps, the National Youth Administration, The Rural Electrification Administration and the Works Progress Administration's Federal Art Project.

This book gets past the stellar work that Stryker's FSA folks produced and concentrates more on the urban visions of Berenice Abbott and Barbara Wright.

Of particular interest are several "sketches" for photo murals from Riker's island, the NYC Chronic Disease Hospital, the 1939 World's Fair and the Newark Airport by Wyatt Davis, Dmitri Kessel, Leo lances, Byron Browne and Alexander Alland. These images alone are worth the price of admission, if that's the kind of thing you like.
