[Disney, Walt ] Rawls, Walton and David R. Smith (foreward): DISNEY DONS
DOGTAGS (The Best of Disney Military Insignia from World War II). NYC:
Abbeville, 1992. First edition. A Very Fine hardcover book in a Very Fine
Dust Jacket: appears unread. Interior unmarked and very clean.
Out-of-print and scarce.
9.25 x 9.25 hardcover book with 96 pages and profusely illustrated with
rare artwork from the Disney Archives of military insignias from World War
II. An amazing volume of interest to both collectors and aficionados.
During World War II, the Disney studios sat up a five artist group to
produce artwork requested by the united States armed services. From this
group came the mascots for the Flying Tigers, the Msquito Fleet and the
Seabees. A fascinating piece of history, both in terms of the artwork and
its wartime usage. Very highly recommended.
