Richard Avedon: AVEDON PHOTOGRAPHS 1947-1977. NYC: Farrar Strauss & Giroux, 1978. First edition. A near-fine hardcover book in photographically-printed boards and a very good printed Glassine sleeve (sunned, as usual). The book has been gently bumped on one corner and the publishers printed glassine wrapper is sunned on the spine and lightly chipped along the edges. The front end paper is covered with a bold inscription from the author and dated 1994. A nice copy of this fragile volume. Book design by Elizabeth Paul.

10.75 x 14.5 hardocver book with printed paper boards and 162 photographs. Published concurrently with the Metropolitan Museum retrospective exhibit. Preface essay by Harold Brodkey. 

A very beautiful, elegant book, highlighting some of Avedon's most famous trademark B&W, starkly lighted but lovely celebrity photographs, including Lauren Bacall, Audrey Hepburn, Irene Castle, Gabrielle Chanel, Bianca jagger, Sophia Loren, Marilyn Monroe, Yves Saint Laurent, Elizabeth Taylor, Twiggy and many others.
