8.75 x 11.75 hardcover book with 438 pages and over 500 b/w images, diagrams and plans showcasing 82 contemporary modern residences selected by the editors of "Architectural Record", representing all regions of the United States and a wide range of prices. Each project is represented in its entirety, complete with exterior and interior photographs, site dimensions and contours, floor plans, and interesting structural features. Included with each study is a brief commentary upon the owner's requirements, and how these were met in the finished house.

Along with Living Spaces by George Nelson, this is one of THE classic pictorial records of modern residential architecture in Post-war America. This book spotlights some of the lesser-known structures of the period, thus supplying a more unique perspective than similar volumes that tend to showcase the iconic residences.
